I'm sorry to have to say this and upset a lot of you who have come to know me and this site over the past year but.....

I have just paid the hosting bills for another year so it looks like we're here to stay icon_smile_tongue.gificon_smile_big.gif

Contrary to popular belief, even though I'm from Yorkshire, I'm not a tight arese yurksure mun neither do I have short arms and deep pockets

PS, there's a collection box on the way out icon_smile_big.gificon_smile_big.gif

The site was launced on the 12th February 2001 so get ready for the party..... regards to all... Dave icon_smile.gif

At the risk of being accused of copying other sites why not have a members club or even call it something else. That would cetainly help offlay the cost. I would be prepared to pay, even though it may come out of my beer money.

I know your'e not tight. Most Yorkshire men I know wouldn't have paid for a B & B icon_smile_big.gif they would have done a runner.

Regards
Geoff

Thanks for the suggestion Geoff but I'm a firm believer that the net should be free for surfing. I can understand some sites charging for information such as research articles and documents, etc, and then there are the porn sites but general interest sites should, all being well, be able to cover their costs through their advertising potential.

It's a bit like the billboard on a busy road,

Good gawd, someone's just offered me money and I've turned it down icon_smile_shock.gif where's that NHS site for self diagnosis, lol

Hi Alan,

I have to agree with you there regarding rare things. It seems that every corner I turn there is someone with his hand out wanting my money/pension and when I manage to get past them, I bump into Mrs G. icon_smile_big.gif

Many years ago before commercialism came along, angling was a great sport full of likeminded people, many who enjoyed the simple things in life and took what came for granted. These days those same people are still here along with many new comers to the sport but unfortunately the Capitalists have latched on to us as a money-making machine - take some of the large tackle manufacturers as an example.
I'm glad to see and be part of the community that's growing with this site and express my thanks to you all for what is becoming a great club.

Alan, I won't call you a creep and a groveller, but I certainly wouldn't go that far without being paid for it. No wonder you are a moderator.icon_smile_big.gif
So my money isn't good enough for you Dave, never mind I'll let you buy me a beer at Elvington.

Dave,
Does this mean that you wont be able to afford B+B at Elvington?
Or is it close enough to home for you to be able to sleep in your own bed?
Seriously mate,Many Thanks for all the effort that You,Stu and the backup team put into this site.I for one think that it's coming along just fine, and i'm glad to be just a small part of it!
Peter.

He's beyond moderation lol. After his 'promotion?' we received a 2000 name letter of protest, a letter from the war cabinet and forty-two offers of free physiciatric help but his mum promised he'd behave lol
