hi tomo

To keep your MSN Hotmail account active be sure to do the following:

Log in to your MSN Hotmail account at least once every 30 days. If you dont, your account will be deemed inactive and all your messages and contacts will be deleted.* Logging-in is easy and can be done from wherever you can access the Internet be it home, work or school, or a public Internet access point such as an Internet caf or kiosk.

Keep your account size under the 2MB storage limit. Inboxes have a way of filling up fast, so please delete unwanted messages. If you go over the limit, the Hotmail Janitor will randomly delete messages until your account is back under the 2MB limit.

this may help
if not cilck on the butterfly on the bottom and ask for there help[:)]

Be careful when using Hotmail. I set up an account as my name (sullivansteve@hotmail.com) for an alternative email address and without even using it, I was getting 15 or more junk mails everyday - it was so bad I had to close it down. I've got a couple of other Hotmail accounts and they are a real target for junk mail senders. No matter how much I complain to MSN, all they do is tell you to mess around with junk mail filter settings - a total cop out in my book. But if you want viagra, dodgy university diplomas, porn, credit cards or debt relief, then Hotmail is ideal, cos you'll get it all sent to your Inbox whether you like it or not.
I've also got a Yahoo email account which doesn't get any rubbish sent to it, so it's obviously a problem on MSN.

to stop spam etc on hotmail just set up the filter that way only mail from those in your address book will go into your inbox and set your junk to clear daily that way your mail box is clean

In my opinion the spam filter is pretty much useless, the spammers simply send mail under a different name / alias, it's still the same old junk that's getting through.

If anyone uses a better Instant messenger which isn't as prone to spam I'd be interested.

Tis strange, I get 1 or 2 every day, so does a friend of mine .... I wonder if it's anything to do with how long you've been using hotmail ?

I've been on hotmail for a good while and I'm getting stuff sent from *****@msn.com and *****@yahoo.com. I report every abuse to their respective depts. Yahoo always come back and say that they have been forged and don't come from Yahoo servers at all. I can't set the Junk mail filters to exclusive because sometimes I get emails from people who don't know I've changed to a Yahoo provider.
I don't see why I should have to do this anyway. I think the providers should have an obligation to clean up their acts when it comes to this stuff being sent.
Dodgy university diplomas is prime example. Every time it comes through I block their provider, but they just set up a new provider address and it starts flooding in again.
I have contacted Hotmail a number of times about this but they can't come up with any answer apart from the Junk filter settings. It's as if they can't be bothered to accept they have a problem.
