Im after a mountain bike with hydraulic brakes i saw a diamondback peak hd today for 340

what else is out there up to 400

I've got a GT Aggressor XC2 from Halfords there a bit more than 400 normally but i bought mine in a promotion for 399 so it were a bargain. Awesome bike for that money cant fault it so far.

I have just bought a Carrera Kraken from Halfords. For the money its an awsome bike, SRAM X5 27 speed gearing, sr suntour xcr forks, cracking hydraulic breaks andlooks nice too. Use d to have a GT Agressor xc3 till last week and that was a good bike but for mr the kraken feels a better bike.

If your after something that will be abused then go for the carrera banshee if you can push your budget.

For that kind of money I'd go for a 2nd hand hard tail. Giant XTC or Specialized rockhopper (just my personal preference). They'll be decent frames and have decent level of kit. Don't even consider spending less than a grand if you're thinking of going full suspension, it'll be complete rubbish.

Plus it all depends where you intend to ride it. If you just want something to soak up the bumps on a canal path then you don't need something that costs a mint or has hydraulic discs. I had a Saracen Mantra 3 or 1, can't remember which. Cost about 300 quid and it was ideal for that line of thing. For proper off roading, you're looking at a different bike all together.

other than that, specialized bikes are very good, carerra also good bikes from what i have heard about them.

Do you really need a full sus bike, a hard tail is more than ample for kicking around town and trails unless you are doing downhill.

Rubbish fork, rubbish rear shock and heavy unbranded in house parts.

Stick with something like a specialized,giant,kona,scott.

Check some of these out first.Much more bike for your money.
