Hi everyone,

Has anyone used the cage type feeders yet, they have a drilled lead core with a wire spiral around it?

One style I have started to use lately with method feeders is once you remove the elastic from the middle, set the feeder up as a running leger with the line through the top swivel. Tie a 6inch hook length to another swivel and before tying the main line on, thread a tulip bead onto the line. Tie the main line to the swivel, push the tulip onto it and then push the feeder onto the tulip effectively locking it on the line.
It works exactly the same as a fixed rig but gives excellent safety should the rig break as the feeder will pull off the tulip bead.

I'll see about getting a diagram up sometime tonight.

I still use the original design for the method feeder which is the Emstat Pear Shaped 4 wire feeder.I use it on a sliding feeder link, with a large rubbber bead pressed over a large swivel & a short flouro carbon hook length, so it come's level with middle of feeder,as preference i take lead weight out of end ,&just use groundbait as casting weight ,so when groundbait drops off your'e vitually free lining ,i fish it bait runner style & rely on free spool turning to indicate a bite .

I've been using the NISA method coils for a while now.

I have been more than happy with them, Fished "inline" i use a sliding float stop above the feeded to give a bolt effect, but should the line break above the feeder it is not fixed and would pull free if snagged.

Peter.

Here you go Twig,

How to set up a Method Feeder using a Tulip Bead:

The feeder connected to a link swivel, pushed onto the bead
method1.jpg

The bead then pushed onto the second swivel fixing it in place

Method feeders range from approx 1.25 - 1.95 dependant on size and type,

When mixing the groundbait for the method feeder what percentage of feeder mix to brown crumb do you use, I have been trying to get this right but can not seem to get it to stay on the feeder long enough to cast it out, I use Sensas method mix

Hi Dai,

Personally I don't use Method Mix but a blend of my own which works realy well for me:

1 part Brown Crumb
1 part White Crumb
1 part Red Crumb
Part Fish Meal

Add mini pellets and split maize, hempseed, and what ever the hookbait may be.

When you mix it allow it to stand until the water is absorbed and then add some more to make it a more doughy mix.

Hi Dai,

If you are going to mix it try using white crumb as it binds better.

Dai,

You could always try a small amount of PV1 or Pure Fishmeal as a binder, the latter also give's you the added atraction with it being Fishmeal.
