Not quite one for a diary but following on from the idea of a inter site challenge, how many would fancy a go as part of the team?

I was thinking of something along the lines of 3 matches - one on a stillwater, one on a canal, and one on a river and rather than have one team for all, have a mix of anglers.
It could be held as individual weights per venue and overall weight for the the teams with a final team weight for the challenge. We could get a trophy for the winning site or somthing along those lines.
Individual pools per heat?

Just bouncing ideas before I send out a few emails to other webmasters.

Let me know what you reckon and we'll see if we can knock something together before the invites go out.

Venues? any ideas also welcome

Cheers, Dave

Dave,
Don't see how i can turn this down, subject to the usual constraints on time and distance involved.
Venue's?????????? Where do you start,as long as it's not a bleedin Bloodworm job, smashing holes in the ice in the middle of winter on some p##y canal[:(!] (that's why i stopped fishing W/Leagues[:)])

What we need are a few of each venues then we can narrow it down a bit. Location would be ideal if we could look at somewhere such as North-West, South Yorks and South of the Watford Gap.

Times somewhere around the Close Season, Mid Summer and Autumn'ish unless there are any martyrs amongst us for Mid-winter lol

being new to this game I know I'll only manage selection to make up the numbers but it sounds a great idea to me.

I agree with Malc Holly Farm is a good venue - and I'm not on commission.

Further south there is Browning Tingrith which will give good carp and Silver Fish fishing - depending upon the time of year, also has good access from junction 12 on the motorway.

Rivers

The Great Ouse in Kempston is an excellent Chub Streach - 12 mile from the M1 so great to get to. The streach I know is Kepston Angling Club water.

Also what about some of the streaches on the Warwickshire Avon which I used to fish when I was young.

Great info, great guys, great fun, thats Maggot Drowners

I'am though (should be able to sort a good rate Dave if wanted) [;)]

Warks Avon is on a real downer at the moment with Zander and Cormorant problems average match winning weights are around 7 to 9lb then it drops to ounces (although some bits are still better than others).

Dave

Steve Wilson will be up for it as well but he's on his Hol's at the moment so won't post for a couple of weeks but you can put his name on the list.

I'd be interested if you can get a venue that doesn't involve a 500 mile round trip.

Woodlands at Thirsk perhaps

Dave,

You can put me down as long as they don't clash with Malcs league during the summer 2003.

Okay looks like there's enough interest to start to work on,

I like the sound of Woodlands for the Northern venue/heat, Holly farm? is that the one in Leicestershire? if so sounds good for a middle venue, just need a Southernish heat now - any ideas Peter?

Date wise how about earlyish May for the Southern, Mid Summer for Northern and Mid September for the Middle one?

Let me know what you think and I'll then send a few emails around

Cheers, Dave

Nick,
Most of the decent fisheries down here are booked solid a year in advance.
Gold Valley is more bookable than most by virtue of the number of pegs available and the facilities available,Bait, food, secure parking and good access to comfortable pegs for the less able bodied amongst us.
I can think of more venues, but booking them is another matter,However i'm always open to suggestions, but really need some idea of the numbers involved before progressing further.
