Malcolm Triumphs on Thames 2019

A low, clear River Thames from Abingdon to Appleford made for some tricky conditions for hopeful qualifiers. Talk at the draw was whether the bream would feed and if the finicky roach could be lined up.

Malcolm Vigor made the most of his good early draw on peg 3 at Abingdon and stormed the match with 33lb flat. Malcolm has baited heavy at 6 meters and fished worm heads over groundbait, taking nearly all skimmers.

Winning B section was Tom Hobbs on peg 36 with 9lb 3oz. Tom has fished a busy match taking skimmers, perch and a good chunk of bleak on the pole and whip.

Steve Clark took down the final C section spot by a mere ounce, end peg 60 at Appleford was Steve’s home and he weighed 8lb 12oz of mainly roach on the pole.

RESULTS:

1. Malcolm Vigor - 33lbs
2. Bradley Gibbons - 25lbs 10ozs
3. Trevor Chalk - 23lbs 6ozs
4. Dave Roberts - 20lb 3oz

QUALIFIERS:

Malcolm Vigor, Tom Hobbs and Steve Clark

Next Qualifier: September 21st, River Severn Bridgnorth.
