Hi

I hope to fish "Makin Preston Inovations" near Coventry soon.

Anyone have any tips on which pool to fish or methods that work well?

Thanks

Laterly the best lakes have been lake 4 and lake 1 on phase 1
Lake 4 has been mainly small method with single or double maggot for the carp.
Lake 1 is always worth a few fish opposite the car park to either the method (carp) or waggler (orfe/roach).
Hope that helps.

Hey Malc,
I've been recommended to try Makins, but was told peg access not too great in places?
Can you advise?
Also, you dont mention the Pole? Is it not so good here?
Thanks in advance!

The pole does work fished tight to the banks either far or close in.The problem with makins and this is not a critiscism? is the variety of lakes.different shapes ,sizes some with islands some not.All methods work on there day.meat corn maggot caster, method pole waggler.they all have there place but you really have to assess your peg on arrival.

Malc tells me youre the Drayton expert too and thats a place I gotta try before long.
Maybe we could all have a mini-fish in at Makins end Jan if Waxys coming down from Wales?

I have fished Drayton many times although it is frustrating. It depends on the time of year as to methods adapted. However it is awesome.I have had over 200lbs before and lost just as much on the same day.You may need a trolley at makins and drayton. At makins they have car parks on each phase and you walk to the lakes from there. At drayton they park on the dam wall and then walk.it all depends on where you want to fish.As for meeting up i will see if i can make a day end of jan.will get back to you.

Thanks and Great Stuff,
I can make any time, but Waxys got further, (excuse next rude words) 'works' and has a 'job', so is limited to 26th.
It would be great if you and any other mds can make Makins on 26th.
Will check with Trogg whether Cheyenne has a real Red Indian Grandad, to make anti-rain,nice-day dance!!
If not another time and thanks again for your help.

Just a little update on the weather here in Rugby(10miles from Makins)
Last night we had a frost down to -2 from midnight to about 6.30am then the rain started (i went to bed). Got up at 12.30 and it was still raining (and is now) the wind is blowing but not to strong but it's making it feel cold out.
I should be at Makins between 7 n 8 by the time i've got in from work and loaded the car,and to make it easy for you i'll have a blue and red coat on and a sillybait cap strugling with to much gear.
See you tomorrow

Malc
