Thanks Dave mate. I'm trying to work out what would be a proper distance to travel. Would 10 miles be not too far?

Just done a check Dave and my nearest is 13 miles? I'm comfortable not to go currently in truth while Covid is so bad.

Fishing out of Lockdown - Update

It’s now a month since we put in our submission to the Cabinet Office for a return to all forms of angling including night fishing and competitions. A big thank you to the thousands of you who have indicated your support. It has certainly helped in our discussions with the officials who are drawing up the new government guidance to know that we have your backing.
We still waiting for the clarification needed but we remain hopeful that night fishing, match fishing and wider travel for angling will all be confirmed from March 29th.

Hopefully, we should be able to make an announcement very soon. Thanks for your patience!
Full details of our submission to Government can be found here https://anglingtrust.net/.../02/Fishing-out-of-Lockdown.pdf

Ooh, I hope so. I like the odd night (or weekend) session. Nice one.

Is it confirmed that match fishing and unlimited travel can commence on 29th March?

Let’s hope we don’t go back into that stupid tier system. Last year it got that daft I had a map out looking to see where South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire started and ended. It got stupid.

Yes

The rules are basically you can go wherever you want
However, the recommendation is to fish local

So if booked onto a match, or night fishing, you can travel
If pleasure fishing, ideally stay local

I think the 29 March date was part of the Roadmap and was thus not set in stone just in case things got worse again or didn't progress as hoped. There will probably be an official announcement tomorrow that the date stands.

From the Gov website

National lockdown: Stay at Home

How the rules will change on 29 March

Some of the rules on what you can and cannot do will change on 29 March. You can read the ‘COVID-19 Response - Spring 2021’ for more information on the roadmap out of lockdown in England.

From 29 March:

  • you will be able to meet outdoors either in a group of 6 (from any number of households), or in a group of any size from up to 2 households (each household can include existing support bubbles, if eligible)
  • you will be able to take part in formally organised outdoor sports with any number of people (outdoor sports venues and facilities will be able to reopen)
  • childcare and supervised activities will be allowed outdoors for all children
  • formally organised parent and child groups will be able to take place outdoors for up to 15 attendees. Children under 5 will not be not counted in this number
From 1 April, if you have been identified as clinically extremely vulnerable you will no longer be advised to shield. However, you should continue to take extra precautions to protect yourself. It is important that you continue to keep the number of social interactions that you have low and try to limit the amount of time you spend in settings where you are unable to maintain social distancing. If you are in this group, you will previously have received a letter from the NHS or from your GP telling you this. Contact your local authority or speak to your GP if you have any concerns.
