Lockdown Fishing

We are currently in lockdown (though we have a lower infection rate than almost every county in England) and being a very small area my fishing is limited to either the canal or a very large reservoir every thing else though fairly local is outside the boundary of the local lockdown. I ventured out to the canal yesterday and it was absolutely dire, the canal is very quickly dying it is clogged with weed and is slowly silting up due to some building work on the canal banks no boat traffic can get through and the flow of water through a section has been reduced to a trickle below this area. I struggled for a couple of small perch and roach, 2 years ago you would get a nice net of silvers and the odd bonus Tench and Bream, the chances of that now seem slim. I really don't fancy the reservoir as it entails a very long hike over not great tracks with all of your kit plus a wheel barrow full of ground bait then when you finally get to your peg spend an hour constantly chucking a feeder as far as you can before you have even a chance of a fish, however if you do manage to attract the fish you can get some very nice roach and bream nets.. But really it not for me, long range feeder fishing is not my favourite method so looks like my fishing is done until lockdown is lifted

Its a pain now that Newport is in lockdown as living in Monmouthshire I cant travel back into Newport without the chance of £500 on the spot fines. Plenty of places to go elsewhere but it seems madness that we cant travel to fish in isolation but everyone else can still go to the pub in the local lockdown areas.

What annoys me is that Torfean has relatively low infection rates, it was put into lockdown with only 35 cases per 100000 and has been in lockdown over 2 weeks and the rate has not significantly risen compared to other areas. There is not really any areas we're there is a lot of socialising in the area with the pubs and restaurants being fairly well scattered (except for maybe pontypool centre) yet there is no sign of lockdown restrictions being lifted yet we have lower rates than almost every county in England

Same in Caerphilly , I was surprised that Cefn Mably is in the borough so that's where I've been going even though I'm only 5 mins from Riverside which I don't fancy .

Cefn Mably is where I usually fish but was surprised to find it is in Caerphilly, I though it was either in Cardiff or Newport, not that it helps now that Cardiff is locked down as well.

Just a quick question regarding lock-downs in Wales. Is Llandudno in lock-down?

It most certainly is, yet again an area with less cases per 100000 than just about every county in England

Thanks for that. A neighbour of ours has a holiday booked there for November (turkey and tinsel I believe it's called). I'm under the impression she won't be going then.

The Welsh 1st minister is threatening to stop all people crossing the border from England to Wales if there is a lockdown in place.... Bloody idiot
We have a holiday booked in Cornwall in 2 weeks... Don't think that is going to happen
