Excellent site with knots (animated photos on how to tie) and what they are best for
And another knot site http://www.fishingcairns.com.au/page6-1.html
And general knots including an angling section at
And yet another that concentrates on knots for fluff flingers
Here is one with probably the most different knot links I've ever found. Includes some downloadable demo software for tying.
Sorry - no clue about the hooktie/hooklength thing. Brit concepts rather than US. Over here, we call a hooklength a "leader" and it took me just this side of forever to figure out the meaning of the UK term.
hiya fishingmad1, yes hooktie is just another name for line in lower diameters or B/S.
i think its Drennan that call there 50mtr spools of line hooktie, the smaller spools just allow you to have several differant spools in your box without taking as mush room up, and not as expensive as standard 100mtr spools.
as for knots the most common ones are, for the pole loop to loop e.g. a small loop on the end of the main line and a small loop on the end of the hook length,
for wagler and feeder fishing use a 4 turn water knot, you should beable to find that on the sites Newt posted.
p.s. buy yourself a loop tier made by seymor they cost 1 and all the loops are the same size, which is good if you're tying a few hook lengths up at home you get them all the same length so you dont have to plumb up again if you change the hook.
