Why, the unit concerned at Rorkes Drift was B Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot, not a Welsh unit as was presumed in the film although the units name was changed to the South Wales Borderers a couple of years later. There were more English soldiers than Welsh in the unit.

Or was it for the spirited rendition of Men of Harlech by Ivor Emmanuel?
I think the regiment of foot was the originally the south wales borderers....only 10 of the guys that fought at Rorkes drift were actually Welsh.....but obviously these 10 were the reason the defence was so successful.....like an old gatland Welsh rugby defence !......ps not like the current mob....
