Ordered a new JW Avon/Quiver system blind which arrived today. Only had 10 minutes at lunchtime to give it the once over but the first thing I noticed is the reel seat puts the reel at 45 degree offset from the rod rings. Is this right ? I have never had a rod that does not seat the reel inline.

Send her back....
As you say the seat should line up with the eyes.

OK - I am a dumbass. Called Hillages who put me right on this. The butt section comes apart allowing me to realign the seat to the rings. Ruh-Roh

Some of the new reel seats can actually twist on the cork beneath, especially if you slacken them off too far (the one on my Daiwa Connoisseur does it all the time and it drives me up the wall!)
If isn't that then as Malc says - send it back
