I live on an estate built 25yr ago by redrow homes. They did the usual “that patch there is for shops and a school” and never built it. The other side of the patch of land and a small factory that had already closed when the estate was being built. Redrow eventually built the factory and put in planning to build 20 houses plus 40 where school should be. This was 20yr ago. They got the permission to build and started straight away clearing the land. Suddenly it all stopped, all machines were cleared off site and no one ever came back. It’s turns out they’d discovered jap knotweed. So the cost of removal must be greater than the profit in 60 houses ????
