Hi all [:(]

Well what a lousy day I've had!!
Started reasonably good removed radiator from the old Escort found a replacement, also found replacement alternator for the same car.
Hoping to do it up for No1 son (He! he! he's already had shock with insurance 2814 for TPF&T).
So off we set in our shiny new Astra (1999 model) gets to the first shop wrong radiator won't fit as it came off a MONDEO??? where do they get the staff these days?
Anyway not to be too down hearted we decided to collect the aternator.
Pulled up at the Cock Hotel Junction lights, lights go green off we go, 100yds down the road pelican crossing lights change to red, two vehicles in front stop, I STOPPED looked in my mirror to see red car coming up behined fast, thought SH**T he ain't gonnner stop, about to warn Kirk my son, When
BANG!!!!!
Bluey ends up on his back facing the roof lining, impact removes foot from brake pedal and we are catapulted into the rear of a Nisson pick up which has a steel bar across the back about 4"x2" theres's another bang and hissing and steam (and that was from me!!)
Driver from the nissan gets out, I got out and he has the nerve too tell me "serves you f***ing right you should have stopped" how I never hit him I will never know, and promptly pointed out the cloud of steam that was once a Rover Metro behined me. I did stop he didn't so get your facts right. I yelled at him.
Anyway my poor little baby is in the crash repairs now with damage to front and rear.
Both radiators are wrecked, the fans are damaged , bonnet is badly buckled, front skirting is smashed, headlights broken, on the rear it is more or less the same rear skirting is broken and split, hatcback is twisted and the floor pan inside is buckled.

To top it all Kirk's got a lump the size of a large egg over his left eye and two big bruises on his left cheek, [B)][B)][B)][B)]
I feel as though someones tried to wrench my head off, and I feel like I've been given a good kicking in the back and ribs.[B)][B)]
The driver who hit us looks older than God's dog and if I didn't know any better I would swear he was "not there"

Geez what a day[:(][:(]

Hi guys! [:)][B)]

Thanks for all the good wishes.
The bit that amused me the most was Kirk's first words to his mum when they turned up he said "mum you should have seen dad he was so well restrained and calm, I thought he'd hit his head and was delirious, he never went for the other driver, or yelled at him."
Norm your right mate it could have worse we could have been on the way to do an afternoons fishing, which, in that case the guy who hit us would now be lying in hospital having several metal objects removed from certain orifices around his body. [:0][:0][B)]
Anyway looks like we get a runaround while its repaired so we won't be without wheels, do you think I should be cheeky and ask for a car big enough to carry all our gear?

Sorry to hear about the bump(s) bluey. If the person behind you caused the accident and it looks certain that he will be held responsible, then there's no reason why you shouldn't insist on a larger car.
Most insurers will not under the terms of the policy, allow it but if you have the legal cover extension to your policy (most Comprehensive policies do so) then you can claim the difference in the upgrade back from the 'third party' as 'out of pocket expenses'

As for injuries, make sure that you and your son get checked up and any injuries are noted. As the advert says 'Where's theres blame, there's a Claim'

I'm not a lover of 'Ambulance Chasers' but at the end of the day, when you set off on your journey you were both in good health so why not? [:)]

Hope you both get well soon.
That way you can concentrate better on giving his insurance a kicking
