Guys,

My M8 Richard and I are planning a few days in Ireland, North or South it does not matter.

Richard has fished there once before fishing the upper Shannon, so we only have that experience

What we are looking for are some suggestions on Where to go - Packages, Web Sites etc.

Any advice will be greatfully acepted.

TIA

Hi Haydn,

Have you tried FerrySavers for a quote on a crossing?

They seem to be able to beat a lot of the regular prices and if they don't succeed on-line give them a ring: http://www.ferrysavers.com/

Regards, Dave

To Norm.......What accomodation was it? Did you say it was with Anglers World? My mate Derek is sceptical. We went to town houses at Belturbet but I am sure there are better accomodations at same price approx 100 self catering. ( video u.s tv snowy and out of focus, microwave rusty, frying pan filthy, one bed spring sticking through, my small bed room had large tv on floor infront of washbasin making moving around difficult.)Would like to here of any accomodation near border if pss. as I have to fill up on my Comet petrol card in Northern Ireland. Thanx haydn & derek

Hey guys

Just got back last night from Belturbet, water is going down nicely, fishing was'nt brilliant but had a few good days. Tomkin Road fished reasonable, Drumanny fished well with bream to 5lb 12oz, Tawlah lake in Killisandra (I dont think its spelt that way!) with small skimmers, hybrids and roach, the three of us had over 30lb each there which wasn't bad considering how its been fishing. We caught quite well on loch Outha down on the restaurant stretches. The Woodford river was garbage, as was the Grand Canal down at Edenberry.
It will fish its head off in the next couple of weeks if the milder weather continues.

sorry i never replied earlier

the company is anglers word holidays
the accomm is the anglers rest ballyconnel (near the border)
the price 203 for 2 people (last time i was there was 6 of us 136 each)
for bed and breakfast (or a packed lunch if going fishing early)

the accomidation is spot on
the manager will take you to venues and knows were is fishing and were is not

last time i went he put me on a peg (on the woodford river) and i had 121lb 12oz

the woodford lodge is also a nice bed and breky place but it is a little to far from the town for me

not enough room to put our gear had to put
it in back kitchen the place was cleaner when we left
than when we arrived
no proper utensils like frying pan normal pans
in one word rubbish i wonder if these holiday firms go over and check them out

Dave(scouse)Haydn did you complain to the holiday company?????
You should have taken photograhps of the place and complained about it,,
i/we complained about our accomodation on a foreign holiday, made a right noise about it, we got 500 back in compensation, my advice to anybody who is not happy with the accomodation ,wether it be not stated in the brochure, dirty or whatever, COMPLAIN, AND DO NOT LET IT DROP.

i'm going to bait up

Nick,

You could always try Cliff Smarts in Burton Latimer,Northants. Not far from you.We go every other year with them and cannot fault there service.Everything is included(ferry and accomodation) except bait and this can be delivered to your door in some places you stay.Have stayed at Ballinamore,Killeshandra and Portumna in recent years.

Good service and local for anything you may have forgotten.

Keith.

See you at Clattercote.
