Stayed at the Breffni Arms last week and had a chuck on Town lake. Plenty of roach and hybrids on the pole but nothing on the tip. Didn’t seem to be any fish in the deeper water
Had good catches on Derneferst swings, Rossduff, Gulladoo and Rockfield Lake
Mainly pole fish but a couple of the lads had some bream on Rossduff
Overall a brilliant week with a bite almost every chuck each day
Weather was good and the levels were fairly low for a change

Got back at the weekend after 10 days around Mohill and Carrick on Shannon area. There were some decent weights up to 20kg on the Pole and whip in the Carrick festival and weights were generally better than the last few years that I fished it( didn’t fish it this year though)on most of the venues.I spent most of my time either tip fishing or with the waggler.Best weights I had were on the Mudflats at Carrick where I was going for quality not quantity With 40 &35lb best.Fished the feeder into around 20ft on the Shannon catching skimmers and hybrids up to 1 lb1/2.Fished there 3 times and it got worse with hardly any flow on the river.Barneys shore on Lough Allen was good sport on the waggler catching hybrids and roach up to 8oz.35lb here.A deep lough near Drumlish was the targent for a couple of days after a bream or two but the smaller hygrids and roach were feeding well on the tip and I only had 1 bream.

Continuing with my previous post i only got the pole out on the last day at Keshcarrigan canal catching small skimmers from 4-8oz and had 15lb.I’m sure if i had pole fished other local venues I could have improved my weights but I wasn’t that bothered as I was just glad to be back over in Ireland.Checks at Dublin customs were almost non existent.I was asked if I had proof of vaccination and a passenger locator form but didnt want to see them or anything else.Didn’t take any bait either and wasn’t asked if I had any even after I said I was going fishing.Thoroughly enjoyed my trip and hope it’s not too long before the next one.

Before I leave it any longer, these are some pics from the second and third week in August.

Note: The blue gloves in some of the pics. Saved my painful hands due to being wet all the time.

Has anyone stayed at Cornode Cottage on Lough Derg outside of Garrykennedy? It's advertised in Anglers World Holidays as a cottage by the water. Just wondering what the fishings like on site if the waters deep enough to attract the bream and hybrid shoals?
Thanks.

Hi there, I stayed at a cottage next door to Cornode in August maybe ten years back. There are three cottages which share access to the lough. There is not comfortable access for the angler. I walked out on a narrow causeway to the right in the photo where you see the slip. I was there on a family holiday but I brought some feeder gear. It was about 5-6ft deep 40yards out. The water was crystal clear which didn't help. I baited up but only caught small roach and hybrids. I fished early in the morning as I thought fishing during the day would be a waster of time.

Nice pint and food in Larkins pub in Garrykennedy a few km away.

There is better angling and access at Portumna at the northern end of Derg especially early in the season but it is popular for festivals.
