i need the horn please

what i mean is that my mate has started to do carving and make walking sticks etc as a hobby

but is having trouble getting the horn

i am sure some one on this site must come across some when crossing fields to rivers on the way to your pegs

please please could you find me some deer,ram,cow,horn

Even tho' I live on the edge of several areas holding deerI have never come across any shed antlers. I can only once remember finding a horn.
When I was thinking of making walking sticks the only supply of horn/antler I could find was at a game fair. These came ready cut to length but I thought them expensive and impractical.

you are right they are very expensive to buy already prepared,
but my mate has just started this as a hobby and it is only for a pass time, and can not afford buy from shop (i think he should take up fishing instead)lol

i hope someone can come up with some

Has he thought of carving the handles from wood? I mean hard woods like mahogany. I've seen some beautiful carvings used.

i think because he has joined a beginners class and some others bring the horn in ,he may feel a little left out

[:)] The trouble with my Horn, i s it goe's soft after a lot of wittling with so would be no good for carving etc.[;)]
