At the risk of getting 2 two up medals in a week. I have some balsa bodies to paint, back in the day I used to seal them with Humbrol “base white”, sand smooth and paint the colour on. I have been unable to find any base white and I was wondering if a weak PVA solution would the same job or is there a better alternative on the market?

When I was painting the bodies, I used sanding sealer. 2 coats at a mix of 50/50 with the appropriate thinners.

Being ignorant, when I made some floats a couple of years ago I just painted the body with two coats of Humbrol top coat, some old stuff I had in the drawer. Finished with two coats of nail varnish.
