I HAVE JUST JOINED A LOCAL FISHING CLUB AND THE COMPETITION IS VERY FIERCE SO AS MOST OF NEXT YEARS MATCHES ARE ON CARP POOLS, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO CAN RECCOMEND A GOOD SOLID HOOK RANGE FOR BAGGIN' ON THE POLE!

Welcome back splodger,

Personally i prefer the pr 27 for most of my carp fishing. The whole range is good and i have never had a problem with them. The only time i change is at drayton where the mustad method hooks come into there own.
I am currently trialing the drennan carp feeder hooks and have been impressed over the last couple of months.

Welcome back Splodger.

For most baits and waters it's the Kamasan Animal hook but for bigger baits like Paste and Multiple Catmeat baits it the Mustad Method feeder hook.

Hi Splodger, when the fish are between 1-4lbs then i use the kamasan animals, for anything bigger i use the drennan super specialists. for all my bagging work i always use eyed hooks because a spade end hook can cut through the line and it is easy to tie a hair rig into an eyed hook using the knotless knot. tight lines

Hya Scales,
I managed a few beers at the bar on seacat but it got a bit dodgy on the old bay window due to the rough crossing so i gave up after four pints (as you do!).
The fishing was steady but not spectacular for us (top weight of 82lb - me!) but we all caught all week, in fact the lowest weight all week was 41lb which was more than we expected.
I had two consecutive 60lb catches from the river at clowninney (all 1lb skimmers) and my 82lb came from Innishmuck where the river runs into the lough (biggest bream here was 4lb).
All the really big catches were from up north at galloon (accessible by hiring a boat and pre-baiting) but we stayed round the Belturbet area and fished all our usual haunts and were well pleased with the results.
Good nightlife as well (mad ass was heaving saturday and sunday) were you there?
