What is the best way to hook a dead-bait of around 6 ounces. Do I use two trebles or one large single, do I hook it from the head or from the tail or just in the middle??

Thanks,, Terri

Hi Terri,
Using two trebles on a trace, spaced about 3inches apart, hook the leading treble at the rear of the gill cover. Place the second treble in line with the dorsal fin and then tie the trace using some whipping cotton or fine string to the tail so that the fish is in-line with the trace.

When Pike take dead-baits about this size, they generally arn't too fussy how they lift it but quickly turn it in order to swallow it head first.
Don't strike at the first movement but wait until the fish has moved off. Hooking the bait like this will give you every chance of striking successfully

Regards, Dave
