Did you know it is eaten ?

A few weeks back I was in Italy and on the breakfast buffet there was a 'seed box' of all manner of healthy seedy stuff. One morning I absent mindedly put a bit of everything on my cereal.

Back at the table, crunching away, I said to the other half "you know I'm sure this is hempseed "

Not very tasty, sort of all husky and generally pretty horrible.

Just looked online and it is eaten and considered nutritious, so I reckon i was right, it would have been hemp. If it looks like it ..etc

Don't bother lol.

As I understand it when hemp was discover it was eaten as a cooked grain but because it is unpalatable its use as a food quickly ceased though growing it for the fibre to make rope continued.

They extract protein from hemp and make supplements with it..... they use the selling point it’s vegan .

So are Hemlock and Deadly Nightshade . Very good for Vegans.

Hemp, in various forms has been sold in supermarkets for quite a while
