Headstone cleaning

Been to family grave to put my Dads homemade poppy cross on.
( ritual) and daughter noticed the headstone could do with a clean.
many advice on cleaning these things or is it just wear and tear and nothing can be done.
that’s for ant answers ?

I have no experience of cleaning headstones but I would try just washing up liquid and water first with a nail brush
