As it seemed to be quite a hot topic this year at Hartleton as to whether there would be another one next year or to maybe try somewhere else "central" that is suitable for all the regulars to get together I thought I'd start this topic off to get the ball rolling as a sort of "suggestion box"
I think we may need to appoint a new organiser as both myself and Mick may not be able to do it next year but if by then my life is a little more settled I'd be happy to take the reigns but as I said, at the moment my life is a bit weird and I wouldn't want to make any commitments that I wouldn't be able to stick to.
Feel free to jump in with any suggestions, dates, venues etc
And for the record .... I quite like the idea of Hartleton sometime in June next year [:D][:T]

I'm easy - as long as I can camp, fish and socialise then I'm happy.

Happy to stay at Hartleton, happy to go somewhere more commercial, happy to go on a river.

And June (or early July) is perfect.

Move the date earlier than the missus's birthday and I might be able to attend again [^]

the question is, how many members have never been to Hartleton and what is it that stops them from coming? Is it the distance travelled? It surely cant be the price its the only place I know where you can have four and a half full days and nights fishing for 35. Is it the venue itself? Plenty of silvers to fill the nets if that's your thing? The odd nice Carp if that's your thing? Perhaps its the regulars who go every year and have a wonderful time that is a tad off putting for the shy boys.

No specialized kit is required? Just what ever you normally fish with and a tent.

Is it the dates? do they clash with other more important fishing or sporting events?

c'mon guys let us know.

Perhaps that's the key, Trev - establishing what dates are available early on, and finding out how many would be able to attend on each alternative date.

I think we were unlucky this year, with births and birthdays, personal circumstances and other fishing events coinciding with the Hartleton fish-in. There could easily have been at least 15 attending, maybe more.

I can't imagine a better place to hold a non-match orientated fish-in. [:)]

Some possible dates for next year:
June 16/17/18 (Fathers Day)
June 23/24/25
June/July 30/1/2
Just throwing this out there to keep the thread active

I'm very interested in coming along next year. It's been a while since I attended any fish in (bought a house, got married and started a family) fishing has been in the back burner for a while. Harleton would be great but if it has to be somewhere else then so be it.

I very much expect the venue will stay unchanged as us regulars love the place but it would be nice to see the return of former "soap-dodgers" and welcome new ones into the fold

Not been able to make one of these for a long time, I really used to enjoy the weekends. Family and work have got in the way for the last few years, but now that divorce is sorted and my kids are both into fishing, I'm thinking that a return next year is on the cards. Hopefully it wont fall on one of those weekends where she has the kids as I think they would love the weekend but either way I'll look to attend.

It would be good to see you again, Ken.

And the kids, too many of us are getting old in the tooth!
[:)]

I think that should have been LONG in the tooth. [:I]
Some of us are becoming inarticulate in our old age.

You're right, Trev, surely we can get a dozen or more?
And there'll be no stopping me next year, with my patented Grannyspodder mini throwing stick!
Thanks again for that! [:T]

The last 12 months were very busy for me domestically: lots of family hatches, matches and dispatches.

Hartleton also coincided with the Lindholme Festival week, which I was already booked on to.

Hopefully I will be able to attend again next year if the dates don't clash, so fingers crossed!

It will be good to catch up with all you soap-dodging reprobates again. [:D] [:T]

due to certain circumstances I ended up at Hartleton a few weekends ago and there was a charity carp match on there, the guy organising it had 15 pairs of anglers around the entire lake so they wouldn't let me on, however the fact is they had 30 blokes turn up to fish for a small insignificant charity and we struggle to get 8 for a full weekend social. Mad world isn't it.
