Just for reference Dave, when the river is carrying extra water and there's flotsome and jetsome coming through i've used a captive backlead and it solved the problem. The weight held position and no more rubbish accumalating on the line 😉👍.

Oh, forgot to say, you can fish with your tip pointing down n'all 😎.
A good suggestion, I'll give it a try next time (y)

We've found a couple of nice inside bend pegs where the inner line is quite slack, the middle is faster and the main current seems to be down the far bank.

One line in the slack, and one line down the middle.... fingers crossed🤞

I bottled it this morning when I looked at the local river level stations, too much in for piking

The levels here are within their normal range, but the water is cold and I suspect the fish arent interested in feeding.
Just a few skimers caught along the length today.

Looking at the forecast, the temps are set to drop right off sharply which will most likely put a stop to the barbel feeding with any gusto.
There are rumoured to be a couple of decent dry days this week, so if the levels drop off enough I might get out with the float gear on one of them....fingers crossed.

We both blanked 😱
We fished the top length, pegs 25 & 26 and not a touch.
Lads further down just coarse fishing had a few skimmers.
About 6 anglers fishing on the weirs length and one small Barbel caught.
Bright sunshine and strong winds across the water didn't help.

Going to give it another go in a few weeks after this coming cold snap
They're in there, they just need to get their heads down :D

Bright sunshine 😳. Where you been today ? Did you take any natural baits with you ? Worm / maggot etc ? Sometimes when I’m struggling on pellets, boilies and meat, a bunch or dendras or a bunch of maggots can produce a bite in cold water temperatures. Worth a try. 👍

I see you have the Prologic Sky Pod Dave. I used mine (Xmas present) for the first time yeaterday. Have to say it is a great bit ok kit, rock solid and highely adjustable.

Yeap, it's steady as a rock.
I want a large square and flatish box though to put the top and bottom rests in with bite alarms attached rather than dismantle them each time.
The rest can be carried complete however it doesn't fit in the bag it came in if you leave the long legs on - rather a bad design in that respect.

That is the only drawback the setup/breakdown time. Maybe a large Pole Roller holdall would suit. Alternatively maybe Midwater luggage have something suitable, if they do it could become a hot sales item with other Prologic users.
