i have caught one thats about 2lb but not one that big, what a prety looking fish[:)]

They say it can't go in the record book cos it's ornimental.
Might be time they had a record for any non-native fish(or water creature, turtle?) caught on rod and line in British waters.

I think they don't because this would just lead to more illegal stocking of non native fish[?]

What fish are illegal to stock?
If it's a private pond in a fishery surely they can stock what they like?
Within reason. :)

a pond near me has them in to a decent size and i've caught dozens of gold and brown ones from there but is it just me or does anyone else find that "gold" goldfish don't fight at all but brown ones do??
the gold ones seem to give up almpost immediately but the brown goldfish fight well.

Theres a small pond near me with brown ones in, proper little battlers some of them

I don't think it is, before our pond became goldfish free we had one that looked very much like that one. It's difficult to tell without being able to see whether it has barbules or not though.

That one is in yesterdays AM. They had an expert comment on it who said it had no barbules and the right amount of scales or something so he thought it was a pure goldfish
