Gas fires

I want a new gas fire, can I buy one from a showroom and fit it myself or has it got to be done by a Corgi registered fitter?

Can't fit it yourself Brian, or if you do and it goes BOOM I'll get you a bed in Armley.

Got to be fitted by someone who is registered with Gas Safe, formerly Corgi[:T]

You can fit it yourself but you then have to get it signed off so it conforms to regulations.

Play safe and get it fitted by a Professional engineer. [:T]

If your chimney needs lining and you need a gas box and all the fittings give us a shout because thats what i supply. []

Brian have a chat with my son jamie at lindhome he's a gas engineer registered with gas safe. He should ba able to point you in the right direction. might cost you a bit of advice on match fishing cos he knows nowt, he's a carp angler.. [:T]

Gas fire connection is about 60 for a straightforward flue test and connection. If you need a flue liner though that's when the costs start to rack up

Best bet is have a word where you buy the fire from and see if they do installations - if so ask them for an all in price - ie fire and fitting

I fitted a gas fire once.
In 1977, and the gas showroom sold me the pipe[:0].

Everytime it was windy we got a headache, something dodgy with the chimney pot, I'd guess.


Get it done by a professional, it's not cheap, but you need that flue tested...trust me!
