free river fishing

i not long moved to the southport area, anyone know any good lakes/rivers you can fish for free?

where i used to live, there was quite a few rivers you could fish for free as they were in public parks etc...

anyone know any rivers or lakes you can fish for free in the southport/preston/lancashire/merseyside area?

Isnt the River Ribble in/around Southport? Or is that Stockport? Not good with local geography lol

the ribble is out towards preston way but accessible. been past it/over it few times, but dont know about fishing it yet..

Im told its great, seen photos of a few Chub over 3lb and Barbel over 7lb in my mates first session there the other day

You could always try looking on the Do Free Fishing Website. I'm not sure how up to date it is, but there's no harm in looking. A lot of the venues listed have contact details, so you could always telephone in advance to find out more information.
