For any mechanics - Megane Error Message

Driving to the tackle shop today in my Renault Megane, first of all I had an error message come up "Check Cruise Control". Flicked the CC switch and it went off to be replaced by an error message "Check Injection System". Think it went into low power mode, limited my acceleration. The message went off when I restarted the car after going to the shop but I'm still worried about it.

My dad has put a 'meter' on the car to check the error messages and reckons the CC message is a standard one and nothing to worry about, but the injection system one is most likely to be a set of 'pipes' made of rubber that are perishable, and bit of a faff to get at.

Reckon I should take it to a garage? Don't want to be breaking down miles from home next week at work.

Is it a diseasal? A clogged DPF filter will throw up odd warnings.

Yes mate, Diesel. Know nothing about cars myself but just asked my dad about DPF filters and he reckons because I do so many miles it might not be that and thinks it's these two pipes for the exhaust sensor.

I'm now considering whether I should take it to a Megane Specialist or just round the corner to a local garage on Monday morning.

2013 and 1.5d I think! Definitely something to do with the Exhaust system according to my dad. Cheers...

I've had a couple of Kangoo Van's with 1.5d both needed EGR cleaning pretty easy to remove an clean out with Carb cleaner.

You can maybe clean the ERG yourself, it's only a flap that gets stuck usually. I say maybe before any experts jump on me.
Just beat me to it EP.

I'll ask my dad when he gets back in. He's good at jobs like that! Hopefully is something easily remediable as it's just passed 100,000 miles and most cars I've had don't make it to 150,000.

Asked my dad and P1453 is the error code. He doesn't know how to clean the EGR though so going to take it a garage of some sort on Monday.

He's just took it for a drive and it's in Limp Home mode.

To quote the Technical Demi-God that is our beloved @Dave Spence - his usual advice goes like this

"Remove the back of the computer, gently tap all the connections with a hammer and then spray liberally with WD40."

Obviously replace "remove the back of the computer" with " Open bonnet (displaying the internationally recognised vehicle distress signal)"

Depends on the sort of rattle mate and the area it is coming from. Is it like her rivets are coming loose and the rattle is spread all over or is it localised to a particular spot

Localised Dave. I’m no expert but, I’d say between nose and chin. Stops when I throw money at it. Any ideas mate ? ??
