Hi,
Im taking a party of anglers to Ireland next year in April (3 week)to lough Derg (Portumna) though most of us are Bream fishing. One of our party may want to go fly fishing in the Region. So has anyone got any ideas of local fly fishing spots around lough Derg. Thanks. Mal (Mr C)

Mr C.

You are going to the right end of the Lough. That fishes better than down around Dromineer.
However I strongly advise you to call the local gillies and find out specific areas that are catching. The Lough has been under stress for some time and it can be patchy.
Also April could be a tad early for the fly hatches. The real sport and fish activity happens when the hatches occur.
I suggest that your friend research the lakes and rivers that feed the Lough. They can be little explored and provide good sport.

Regards

Once More with feeling
