hiya all, wave.gif

just filling in an application form and one of the questions goes like this.

how do you rate your angling skills.......1 being poor....10 being top class.

my question (or two)

how would you go about rating yourself?

what would you consider to be the deciding factors?

if every angler picked up one piece of rubbish every outing, the banks would be spotless???

Never really thought about this much but suppose i'll try

Being primarily a club match angler that does the odd open the deciding factor would be as to how consistently i finish in the top of the matches that i fish.

This season i've been in the top 6 more than not (when the "JINX" has deserted me)[;)]
But when i'm out of the top few then i tend to blow out big style and end up in the bottom of the field [:)]

So being realistic i would say that i should fall into a category of about 5 or 6 for Skill level.

But for effort i'd say a little higher maybe 7 or 8 with the odd slip down to 2 or 3 when in a match on a venue i don't like.

No doubt a few that know me will disagree [;)][;)]

thanks for the replys gents, but how/why have you decided on the above numbers?

what would you take into account for rating yourself?

by this i mean the likes of watercraft knowledge, tackle knowledge and correct use of tackle, fish feeding/breeding/habits, knowledge of baits etc.

serious question as i have to assess myself (rather not say why for now)

It is not what you think of yourself that matters. It is what others think of you.

My fishing skill is low but I do enjoy myself so my fishing gets 10 out of 10 every time.
