A couple of threads on here about holidays plus the fact we are unfortunately getting towards the end of the English summer got me thinking that it won’t be long before I’ll be planning next year’s annual Florida fishing trip. That then got my thinking about where else I’d like to fish in the world and subsequently made me wonder where everyone on here would like to go?

Mine would be as follows with some being more realistic than others:

Miami and the keys: I’ve been to Florida loads of times and have been on fishing holidays over there on the gulf coast for the last 6 years but obviously I’d like to go to the keys as it’s the “fishing capital of the world” then for Miami I think it would be pretty cool to fish biscayne bay in view of the downtown skyline. Obviously pretty good general holiday destinations as well. This one I’ll tick off for sure one day.

Louisiana delta and/or South Carolina low country: either would do just to fish in such isolation whilst still being able to base yourself in pretty renowned destinations like New Orleans or Charleston.

Galveston/Houston: fishing in Galveston bay plus the offshore stuff whilst getting the old “everything’s bigger in Texas” experience.

Bahamas: alternating between the bonefish flats and the reefs would be pretty cool plus again it’s a pretty good general holiday destination as well. Possibly a doable trip one day.

Belize: safer and easier to access than Cuba and Mexico so probably the best options for genuinely tropical un-commercialised fishing. Unrealistically expensive though.

Eastern coast of Australia: be brilliant to fish Sydney harbour, the Gold Coast canals and broadwater, moreton bay, barrier reef etc plus it’s obviously right up there as a general tourist destination. Problem is you’d need a lot of time and money plus the distance is tough.

Well that’s mine now how about you guys?

I'm going to be boring and say the UK.

I honestly don't think I would even if I were a millionaire travel around the world fishing, I love our fishing in the UK. If I had to pick another country it would be France, but that's possibly because their fishing is the closest to ours.

I’ll chuck one more in actually. I’d love to catch some big British sharks so any of Cornwall, southwest wales or Southern Ireland would do for that. The cost combined with the potential to be blown off is the reason I haven’t got around to that yet.

Catching GT’s somewhere on topwater lures for me - not too bothered where TBH.

Ringe - there's always the jack crevalle aka the GTs less fashionable cousin. Looks and fights similar but a lot more accessible money and time wise haha

Mine would be in the UK. Finding some fishery somewhere that's dire, no cafe, a grumpy bailiff and full of know-it-all's that know nothing at all. After all, it gives something to grumble about, and I've found the very spot..our clubs lakes. :roflmao:

France for me, especially on Lac de Saint-Cassien.

Don't laugh UKZ1 but my friend and I who went on a fishery holiday this year are going to do just that next year. He's staying at my place and we are hitting some of my club lakes on guest tickets and that works out a lot cheaper just for the fishing. It gets my goat when you book a unit at a fishery and then have to pay to fish.

I'm not pleased having to pay extra to fish either. It should be an all-in-one price.

I've still not got round to fishing for big cats on the Ebro, but I will at some point.

Would love a bash at big marlin.

Can I fantasise?
A old estate lake tucked away somewhere in the sunny south. Lilly pads, iris beds. The Tench and Crucians in there haven't seen an angler for donkey's years. No Carp were ever stocked.
Heaven!
