Hi guys,

I am thinking of bringing a 2 or 3 piece rod on holiday and I wondered if it could get easily damaged or lost. Please reply if your rod has been lost or damaged, or if it was fine. If it is 2 risky i can allways take a telescopic rod.

Thanks!

If you take them in a rigid tube they should be fine. I've taken rods on planes without a problem, but I have specifically bought travel rods, so they are four or five piece and will fit in a suitcase if necessary.

Hi,
I have taken telescopic rods and traveller rods (4/5 piece) in a suitcase, in a rod tube for protection.I have also taken normal size rods in rod tubes as checked luggage.Never had a problem. However I think the safest option is a purpose built rod security case such as that made by Bazooka (or Bazuka)I borrowed one and managed to carry 4 rods+pole and metalware in complete safety to Canada.
As matter of interest most airlines now will not let fishing equipment travel with the passenger as cabin luggage. It must travel as checked luggage. (in the hold)
Cheers
