Hey all.

Was fishing today at loxley fisheries in Sheffield today when I caught this one.

Any idea what species this is?

Also as a bonus question is the second image and f1?

Cheers in advance

No.1 looks crucian like. Could be a true crucian or an F1 tending towards its crucian parent. Second looks F1. The lack of barbules either side of the mouth is a giveaway.

I think that record claims for crucians can now only be made with fish from a limited number of waters due to hybridisation.

The second one is an F1 while the first appears to have many Crucian characteristics but doesn't look quite right to be a true one but it may well just be the photo.

This is a true Crucian from the initial stocking of Milton Lake at Old Bury Hill.

Used to catch loads of crucians back in the 70's from a small pond not far from where I live. I always used to love the hard fight the little beauties gave me and how they always curled themselves around my hand as I was unhooking them.

And how they would clamp their mouths shut in disgust😂 Such a shame true Crucians are so difficult to find. If I win the lottery that’s what I’ll dig myself. A fishery with Crucians, Tench, Rudd and a few Perch. Bliss.
