In the roof apex of our grain store it’s currently 37 and hit 43 just before the biblical rain and thunder we had yesterday

We have a microniser in the mill - a gigantic toaster that turns maize into cornflakes - that runs at 1300 and we think it’s well over 40 in there but no one is spending long enough in there to take a measurement 🥵

Forklifts and artics starting to cut up the soft tarmac in the yard too

just taken down two trees and ringed up the trunk - it's even hotter at the end of a chainsaw!

had nearly two gallons of water to get me through the day - and will probably need a gallon of beer to get me through this evening 🥴

Seems to be the last day of it today. Forecast a lot more bearable 27 here tomorrow and an almost ideal 25 on Friday. 21-24 is my happy temperature!

My car struggled to keep the climate control going at 17 degrees today. And the vented seats meant my back was a bit chilly at times.

Lightweights

Spent two years working in aluminium die and lost wax casting.
Average building temps were mid-40s and 56 in the foundries.

All shift had to wear burn splatter suit, hat and safety glasses.

Nothing but respect for steel workers and foundry workers doing it every day.
spent the first 18 months of my working life in a foundry, baking hot in summer and freezing in winter, the building was one mass of Asbestos sheeting

was glad to leave and get into a proper joiners shop

this after was nice under the trees again, the difference between being under the sun and under the leaves must of been around 10 degrees of heat, looking out over the fields was weird with the heat haze making things look like they wre floating a few feet above the ground

lost tuppence worth for a while, found him lying in the gravel shallows of the stream, which for the first time Ive ever seen, had what I presume were minnows in it,, never seen fish in there before

the van was parked out the sun but was still roasting when we got back in it

The air con in my car is useless so the last few days I've been going to pick up keys from agents around 4pm, doing my work in the evening, and putting the keys back through their letterbox. Miss the rush hour traffic coming home that way too, and when I do get back it's already cold beer o'clock. Got a ceiling fan in my bedroom like something out of Apocalypse Now as well.
