As I recently posted, I have had a traumatic last couple of years but, in September, I started a new position at the local grammar school, OMG what a difference!! I have just finished my first month and I have yet to raise my voice, I have not been asked to loan a pen and I have not seen a mobile phone in class. The students are, without exception, polite courteous and hard working. I gave back some homework yesterday to a yr 10 class (15 yr olds) and half an hour after the lesson a student e:mailed me asking if she could have a further, similar, homework task as she was disappointed with her results and wanted to try again. There is hope for the youth of today

Funny ya know I get more respect from the young uns than most the older lads. I was in the pub a few week back and the young Bricky came in with half dozen of his mates I had a right laugh with em, some oldies don’t give em the chance.

You're right mate, I have aften been critical of the young un's but I am coming round to the way of thinking that it is just a minority that are bad. Probably the same with every other 'group'. We should give em more of a chance before pigeon holing.

Thanks mate, it was a bit rough but the compensation helped, it would have aleviated the problem completely except for the legal fees.

We have two grammer schools in Stafford...one is the preparatory school the other is King Edwards Grammer school which is basically a normal school that used to teach Latin a long long time ago.

Of course they would. The way socialism works is to lower the standards to the lowest common denominator, not to raise standards. Where did G.C.E.s go to?
