I'm having a few problems preparing expander pellets so that they sink
when loose fed. I wonder if any one could enlighten me on the subject.

what i do is before i go fishing in the morning
put your pellet in a tub fill with water then drain off right away
then spinkle self raiseing flour over them
when you get to your fishing place the pellet are ready

Welcome Smudge.

You'll find that most people prepare their exspanders in different way's so i'll tell you a couple of ways that i do them.

The first way is better if done the night before you want them.

Place exspanders in container and cover with boiling water leave for about 5 mins then drain off any water thats left then place pellets in plastic bagand seal it shut with air in it.
When your ready to use them take them out of the bag and place them on a riddle and gently compress them against the riddle this will remove any trapped air in them and they will all then sink.

This way is done on the bank.
Put pellets in container then pour contents of your flask (coffee is better than tea) over them to cover.
Do this as soon as you get to your swim.
Once your set up if you pour the pellets onto a riddle and compress the air out they will all be ready.

Hope that helps.

hi smudge & welcome to the mad MDs
the way i prepare them is the day before i put enough in a bait tub for what ill think ill need cover with water & leave for 1 1/2 hrs
drain off exess water & squeeze on riddle then leave in fridge over night
note your best bet is to do 2 or 3 different ways which have been explained & see which is best & easiest for you as all ways could be right

Thanks for all the replys. I have been trying a few different
ways of preparing these pellets and find soaking for an hour in
cold water then tipping the lot into a bowl of water and squeezing
each one so it sinks then drain water off and store in fridge overnight to be the most reliable. This way I can throw them up to
nine or ten metres.

cheers all tight lines
