Not wanting to jump on the number plate post so I've started this post

Let's all go green, let's all go electric.

This baby is what they want the future to be . We've had this delivered on site to test it out and promote going green.
This can NOT lift a pack of bricks and lasts a mega 2 hours battery life before it as to go on charge off a diesel generator for 8 hours

That’s technology delivered too early as it isn’t up to the task, and in the long run in my mind it harms adoption of technology.

JCB have invested in hydrogen ICE’s and have prototype units of most of the range.
This includes excavators and load all’s it’s all down to a challenge from Sir Anthony’s son who challenged him to develop one.

All development has to start somewhere and the only way to improve it is by practical trial.
They will get it right as they have the financial incentive to do so.

Noticed local hospitals are limiting staff to 4 hrs on charging point.
So staff must have to leave their jobs and go and move car.

..and I'll bet they have to do it on their break too.

At my old plant we had electric C/B forklifts and high bay trucks... the high bays ran off a mains buzz bar and the C/B's ran off drop out batteries... the C'/B's were site delivery runners and would last about 6 hours before a battery change... there were 3 batteries for 1 truck as charge time was 8 hours... the plant was very "green" focussed but the old gas trucks were better than the leccy ones by a country mile... 2 shifts (16 hours) was possible on a gas truck, compare to 6 hours for a leccy one... when low the truck would go into limp mode 5km/H max speed... at the moment the tech isn't matching the requirements but it will eventually... that said the electricity needs to be cheaper and more plentiful than it is now... and that ain't gonna happen anytime soon

Our FLT's (Linde) had a 2 ton lift and could manage it... but a 6 hour life for an 8 or 12 hour shift is poor

Was it a relatively easy job swapping over batteries Arry ?

No... you needed a powered skippy truck to do it... the batteries were 2 tonnes
We started off using a pallet truck but maneuvering a 2 tonne battery by hand was a bitch

They were an arse to move on a textured non slip floor so we kicked off about it and they bought a Narrow fork Skippy to swap the battery... which also needed a spare battery...

TBF ,Worked in 4/5 factories that have used electric fork lift trucks without any problems cannot imagine a pallet of bricks would be beyond the SWL of a forklift probably faulty,

Probably the wrong truck for the job... all our C/B trucks were 2 or 2.5 tonnes, so a pallet of bricks would be a piece of pee to em... even the high bay trucks (where you go up with the cab) were rated at 1.5 tonnes (they weighed 11 tons)
