hi
my dad caught an eel. it was really big and took a while to get into the bank but with no scales we couldnt weigh it so could you have a guess at its weight?
its lenght was:43 and a half inches.
and its girth was between 6 and 8 inches

About 7lb 4oz Piker according to This calculator

The weight may vary slightly depending upon the sex of the fish but it shouldn't be too far off the mark

probably the reason no one has caught eels in the race yet is because they are normaly dormant in the winter not generaly coming on to feed till warms up (localy to me mid May)

A seven pound eel is a massive fish and I bet it took some landing. Did it come out of one of the local cuts by any chance? There's some big eels in the Lancaster up towards Preston.
