I wonder how many miles these sites have saved?! Probably makes up for all of the extra ones that sat navs seem to add on to journeys!

Very useful link with stacks of information. [:T]

I am a course fisherman not a sea fisherman but, living on the North West coast and knowing how the weather changes with the tides I have the following APP on my phone.

UK Tides - brilliant APP for your mobile phone

Seems like a new Beta searvice has taken over - not so good in my opinion - needs postcode to find your location

Put your location in and when open there is a link to broaden your search which opens a map that
can be zoomed, expanded and opened full screen with all the areas of England covered, Wales has a separate page
bookmark page as usual.

I use he excellent RiverApp, available on Android or Apple, easy to navigate and you can save all of your favourite river stretches to view quickly, also see them on a map which is useful if checking out a new stretch or river.

Speaking as somone who uses river level information professionally, I can say the site on the .gov.uk site is great but always behind the live data for obvious reasons.

Personally, by which I mean when not at work, I use River Levels UK - river and sea level monitoring stations, flood alerts, flood warnings and flood forecasts for your local area as I find it quicker and easier to navigate around as well as presenting all the information I want and linking quickly to other sites of interest.

People also need to understand the level is recorded at a specific point (gauging station) so will not necessarily be indicative of exact levels up or downstream. Also that only mStage refers to the depth of water in the river, where mAOD is in relation to sea level and not an indicator of bed depth.
