Do you have a 'lucky' rod that seems to catch you good fish and bags of fish all the time?

I do. My Shakespeare Tetra Avon Specialist 11'6" rod. I use it for feeder fishing in a lot of different situations. Few people believe the power of this circa 20 year old Shakespeare rod that I won in a match as a kid. In fact, only one person from the forum has seen it in person, but I've caught all sorts including numerous PBs on it.

I think a lucky rod is dependent on how much you use it, the more often it's used the luckier it becomes .

You can tell from the colour of the cork on this rod it's well used. It has what I call a truly progressive action and I doubt I'll ever find another rod soft enough for Skimmers and powerful enough for double figure Barbel and Carp.

I think my most used float rod is my normark avenger, I always feel lucky when I use it as i've caught so many fish when using it.
I have a number of rods which are capable of catching tiddlers to good sized fish and the avenger is one of them.

Funny thing, I have light float rods, microlites etc and just never use em because the more powerful rods cope with small fish equally as well, and cope with larger fish much better.

I don't have a lucky rod so to speak but I do have favourite rods to use, at the moment, a 14 foot acolyte plus on the river, a cadence 11ft #2 for stillwater wagler work, and a freesprit 11ft ctx feederlight for light feeder bomb. If the fishing falls outside these rods I'm happy to use different but these are my go to rods.

Gave my Tetra Avon to a family friend who didn't have much disposable income, he loves it as much as you do Steve and in his late 70's he still gets it out in the Summer as his surface rod.
I used to have an 11ft fibreglass 'General Purpose' rod ( don't think it was even branded ) purchased from Bennetts of Sheffield in the days when they done gear on the 'never, never', flat maroon colour, chromed rings and an action as floppy as an octogenerian's todger. For some reason I always took better fish ( we ain't talking loads here ) on that rod. Can't remember what happened to it, probably being used by a Glaswegian Doninatrix now

Glad someone else has witnessed the 'Tetra Avon'. I just use it as a feeder rod. Wish I knew the tip rating. I'd say if it's 2oz then it's a very light 2oz, but very versatile.

I have a lucky rod. It is a rod I have had for many years and used all over the country. I have never caught with this rod. I seem to blank every time I use it. What makes it a lucky rod is the fact that I have not broken it into bits and binned it.

No Lucky rods, but a couple of faves... one that I often do well on is a 9'7" cane 3pce that I use for feeder fishing (method included) it just seems to suit that style of fishing and I nick quite a few fish with it using a sidewinder and a Coffee Grinder (Mitchell 300)

Another I favour is a rod gifted to me by one of my club mates, a Dawsons Medina 8' 2pce in cane... does well for me... or my Old Alpha 13' or.. or......

I have 2 greys Barbel rods one of which is lucky.

Don't know which one though because they both look identical

I have a lucky rod ,10ft 6 inch Mach 3 XT. It got pulled it , floated about 4 ft from the bank, scooped it up with the landing net, 2 lb F1 on the end. Lucky or what, straight to lottery shop for a few tickets. Luck ran out .

Not sure about a lucky rod but I do like using my Drennan 13' X-tension.

No lucky rods but as probably 90% of my fishing in the last couple years or so has been natural or natural style float fishing the vast majority of the fish I’ve caught have been on my 13ft and 14ft acolyte ultra float rods.
