Disappointing day at the club lake

Not been out for a couple of weeks, and after catching 9 carp in 2.5hrs last time and the weather warming up and felt confident of a few. They wanted some feed last time, and being a method i want to get more confident with, I decided for a method only session. Started at about 10:30 and by 11:30 not so much as a liner. Id been loose feeding half a dozen 6mm pellets on a short line every cast so dropped on it. 3 in 3 casts made me think i was going to do ok, but no everything went dead, not a liner nothing. All my fish had come within 5 minutes. An hr later still no more signs. Went back out on the longer line and picked up another fish but again nothing after. I dont know if i over fed the fish or weather they were spooking easily and going (i was the only one on the lake), maybe im just not very good!

With about 30mins left the lake went flat calm and the sun was out and i could see fish cruising about. I removed the feeder and put on a pellet waggler. First cast fishing 3ft i had a bite and number 5 was landed. But once again that was it not another bite. The weather seemed ideal, the water had a nice bit of colour but the fishing had left me a little disappointed as i felt i should've caught more, always next week!

If you were the only angler there the odds are that they just backed off. Nobody bags up all the time, that's why it's called fishing, not catching.

You caught a few so you did well.....Warmish days and cool nights aren't great for reliable fishing...Be grateful for small mercies and look forward to the warmer weather....Be lucky Dave...

Agree with the above. You were out there fishing. What’s not to like ? Well done pal.

Having now seen the latest match results i dont think it was so bad! Last match was won with 45lb. The lake has been won with weights of 60-100lb all through winter so it would appear the lake wasn’t fishing too well!

Air pressure today has been rising, and about the highest it’s been in over a month, that definitely won’t help. But a nice day in the sunshine is always a good thing.
