Hi
please forgive me but I do very little pole fishing and I have access to a stretch of river ( Derwent near Malton ) on a newly acquired club book, which I fancy a go at the next few months my dilemma is there’s pegs in excess of 15ft I’ve been told 2-5 gram floats however it’s seems that the fish are ( in the main ) small so light lines small hooks etc so which elastic do I choose to balance light rigs deep water ?
thanks in advance ( any other advice most welcome )

For small fish on a river of go for a 4 or a 6 personally.
6 should give you a chance of getting any rogue chub in.

some times in depths like that, a light elastic is too light to connect on a strike or lift, it seems to not have the pull to set a hook

in deeper waters, NG white hollo works well (6-10)

Well I can only put it down to an age related oversight ( plain bloody forgetfulness more like ) lol and behold drop down below this thread and there’s a link to a question I asked back in January ‘17 ( still haven’t got around to fishing this method yet but as I say ‘ new ‘ club book so hopefully will get on the bank this time around ( weather and access permitting )
