Hi can anyone give me any idea on how good the xr5 is ,I am mainly into bream fishing with the occasional carp session,cheers

Hi Malc I've had mine 7 years. I only fish the cut. I have 4 power tops in blue hydro for Bream, and 6 match kits with number 4 solid for basic silvers. I've just this week changed to a Connoisseur G50 13 metre pole. So if you live in West Yorkshire I've got plenty of spares for you ? I paid £1k for basic pole plus about another £500 - £750 on extra tops and breakages

I've had the xr5 for a couple of years. Great up to 13m, bit wobbly beyond. It's a pity you cant get a short No4 for it, would prob make all the difference. As it's a Japanese made pole, spares can be a problem. I paid £250 for mine with 6 tops. Busted the No4 which cost just under £100 to replace, but it did me well. I've just replaced it with an M16 which I think I prefer.
