It’s maddening when you pay £400 plus on a reel and the manufacturer can’t help. I’m not looking at Daiwa in the same light now. They could have been more helpful. What’s a couple of line clips to Daiwa ? 🙄

Hopefully you can get this sorted soon, I won’t be buying any daiwa reels soon based on your experience !

These spools have same clip

If you can get them cheap enough you can cannibalise them for the clips and put your spools back to factory line clip.

Personally I'd go weston developments route and get proper line clips on there.

Already contacted Weston developments for help.
my other 4 reels are all Shimano, 2 x4000 fa aeros and 2 x 2500 Fa Aeros which are fab. In fairness the Certates are superb.
thanks lads

I'd just ring Daiwa and ask them to post me the clip assembly (assuming it can easily be fitted). I can't believe that such a company of that standing with a reel of that price wouldn't simply go to the stores and 'rob' one to post to you. In turn they can get replacements themselves whenever they want.

I'd be amazed if they didn't hold some basic spares themselves. It's common sense and good customer service.
I did ring them but they said no.

Someone with a milling machine could machine a flat spot into opposite side of spool as your current line clip and then would be quite easy to fit one of the weston kits.

Easiest option would be to get a cheap spool that has same line clip style and cannibalise it for its clip.

If you can find an old shaky mach reel, preferably a mach 3 with the 4 spools I reckon those clips might fit but they're still plastic.
