Angling Times report here as second twenty of the season caught.

Will there will be hoardes of specimen hunters descend on Trent trying for the record over Winter ?

I’ve never fished it.....but my regular fishing mate has held the U K Barbel record twice. So watch out if he comes up your way !

I think I would have better odds on winning the lottery than catching a UK record.

My thoughts on this...

1) I'm less than halfway there.
2) I'll probably never even see a fish that size.
3) Bloodworm boilies (in fact anything bloodworm flavoured) always sounds deadly to me.

That sets off an interesting thought; which is the easiest to break of the current mainstream U.K. coarse fish records ? barbel is probably one of the most likely.

I caught her mum, several months ago, now that was a big fish. ;)

Well done, knew his Dad quite well when I lived in Newark - hope he is a chip off the old block.

I'm sure it will, its just a matter of time. Now the guys have drones and underwater cameras, plus fish finders its almost guaranteed. I'd love it to go to Mr Average, or a match angler rather than a full timer out of work, living on benefits, like some do.

Big Chub reported, quite a way off the record but maybe close to a Trent record?
