Went about Two weeks back when we had that mild spell.
Fished in the 90's and had plenty of Bream but no Barbel.

smiffy, whats size were the bream showing too, and what bait were you getting them on? Was you also still having to use 3oz - 5oz feeders for the bream?

The Bream ranged from 2lb to 6 lb.
The river was carrying a bit of extra water and colour.
I fished a groundbait feeder with Hemp n Halibut groundbait, feeding 3 and 4mm pellets and fishing a hair rigged 8mm pellet on the hook.
Sport was never hectic but I caught consistently throughout the day.
My mate had a Barbel fishing the same tactics. If you fancy giving it a go,the first week of the season can be excellent.May see you there[:)]
