Got out on Thursday for a few hours to the local estate lake. 2 weeks ago despite a drop in temperature and a frost id had a good session catching short and down the edge. Today leaves had covered the margins and the water was looking alot clearer. I decided to keep it simple 8mm pellet on topkit + 1 and i set up a margin rig but due to the leaves didn’t think id need it. Starting off potting in some micros with an 8mm banded on the hook. 5 mins later the float slipper away and a carp of around 2lb was in the net. Repeated the next put in and another carp around 4lb came. Things went a bit quiet then had a nice roach which managed to get an 8mm pellet its mouth! Carried on and over the next hr had 3 fish around the 6-7lb mark before things went dead. Some leaves had cleared in the margins so to give the other line a rest i potted in some corn and put in a grain of corn over. After 10 mins nothing so reverted back to the other line. After 15 mins i had my first bite for an hour and it took off like a train. A few minutes later a nice fish of around 11lb was in the net. Next put in i only waited a few minutes before my next fish was on. Unfortunately after getting back to the topkit kit it made a last dash for freedom. Before i could get more sections on my elastic had bottomed out and the fish came off. I decided it was a good time to pack up and 3 hours had around 40lb
