While the invader was here i took him fishing and the daughters boyfriend asked if he could come along so i said "yeah why not".

After setting him up and getting him started i set my own gear up but before i could even get a line in the water i hear "oh wow i've got one, look at this" ... it must have been the smallest roach in the water but he was over the moon with it.

All day he was catching and enjoying every minute of it, so it was well worth it i guess.

Yesterday we escorted Kevin back to the ferry (wanted to make sure he didn't overstay his visa ;) )and as we headed home the wife gets a phone call frommy eldest daughter asking where my discount card was for Go-outdoors.

They were heading up to Stoke to get some fishing gear, they came back home with a nice little "starter" set up, the guy in the shop was trying to persuade them to buy shimano or Dawia this that and the other, but the daughter isn't daft and kept knocking him back.
She knows if her boyfriend doesn't take it up seriously then the tackle will just sit and rot so she took a leaf from her dads book and made him buy the cheaper stuff untill he decides whether he is going to take fishing up properly.

If and when that day comes i'll help him with his buying and he sure as sh** won't be buying highly expensive names just to go fishing on canals and commercials but for now, we've got new blood interested.... he's even talking about joining MDs and "buying a fishing hoodie" !!

Well done that man, and he will earn bragging rights if he catches more than you mate, I agree with the lower price gear to start with as then he will appreciate the better gear if he continues fishing.

he was a bit "upset" that he hadn't thought of buying something to carry all his new gear in...so i went up in the loft and got my old seatbox out, nice purple colour with a thick cushion on the top... opened it and we both nearly hurled... erm, i hadn't emptied it from years ago (think it was about 8 or 9) and it still had pellets, groundbait and what i think was dog treats in it....couple of kettles of boiling water and an "Eco wash" in the dishwasher (wife not happy) box is like new and smells a LOT better than it did :jump:

You’re not going to be popular with your daughter if she ends up 2nd best to a fishing addiction!

I can see the Sunday newspaper now - 'My dad stole my boyfriend' :D

Well done though Trogg will be good to have something in common with the daughter snatcher !

First things first, does he have a license? Don't want him put off by getting in trouble.
