I have a continuous string of 500 outdoor fairy lights up around the top of the house - they're about two years old now. All of a sudden, a section of about 20 of the lights no longer works. Any idea what may have caused this and is it fixable ?

Thanks :)

Are they bulbs or LEDs?

If bulbs you might find that there is one bulb per twenty that srves as a mini fuse or that batches of 20 lights are wired in series so if one goes it takes out 19 others

If there are 500 lights off one power supply they are definitely LEDs. Unfortunately unless you can see an obvious break in the cables there is not much you can do with them. Sorry.

My next door neighbour has lights up an Oak tree in the front garden. A lot of them stopped working due to squirrels biting the cables.
They've been mended and are back on with a good display again now.

I had a net of about 300 hundred led lights, and just like you about a third of them stopped working, so I put them on a smaller tree. Then another third did the same, so they'll be going in the bin after Christmas, as you can't repair them.
