On the way to Anglesey you will pass close to the Llyn-y-Gors Fishery near Menai Bridge. It is nine-acre lake complex and a very attractive prospect for a weekend trip.
The fishery comprises a specimen lake, a mixed lake, a match lake and a small lake ideal for youngsters. Here you can catch carp to over 26lb, as well as catfish and golden orfe. The match lake and the mixed lake can provide individual catches in excess of 70lb
They tend to hole up at this time of year in the UK, and if the situation is right, start to ready themselves for 'spawning'
They are more prolific feeders in warmer water and at night when they will coast the margins mopping up waste bait, etc
Gear wise, big and strong because when they do go they take some stopping
There are two beliefs with Cats - one for wire and one not
Catfish don't have teeth as such but more a velcro type lining in their mouths which is used for gripping their prey.
A wire trace is not neccessarily needed but I would be inclined to use one if there was other predators about in the same water.
I'm sure someone could offer more specific advice than me tho'
